On Saturday, March 2, 2019, the Ballyshanners hosted the St. Patrick’s day Parade in Old Town Alexandria. A family fun filled event, The St. Patrick’s Day Parade is how we express and celebrate our pride in our Irish culture and heritage.
This year the Ballyshaners choose Shawn McLaughlin as the parade Grand Marshal. Shawn is a leading Irish-American business leader in our community. His dedication to local organizations, schools and business epitomizes the qualities expected in our Grand Marshal.
This year’s parade featured numerous Irish Dance groups, local dance groups, pipe bands, and over 100 additional parade units. Thousands of spectators lined up along King Street to enjoy one of Old Towns largest annual family event.
Old Town Alexandria’s Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade is organized and paid for by The Ballyshaners; a volunteer organization committed to promoting and preserving Irish heritage and culture. Putting on the Parade and other events is an expensive endeavor, including paying for City services such as the Fire Department, the Police Department, and others. Please consider making a financial donation to the Ballyshaners to help us continue to promote Irish-American culture in the City of Alexandria. Our event costs approximately $50,000 per year. With costs rising every year.
Your kind donations will be tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Please consult your tax professional or IRS publication #526 on how to claim a deduction for charitable contributions.
